Doujin Work - 01

Here we have Doujin Work, which surprisingly is from the mangaka Hiroyuki, who hasn't done any actual manga in the past. (I could've sworn this was a sequel to Comic Party!!)

While this episode isn't a 'Legend-in-the-making', it does stand alone from the 90% of other related anime series that usually suck hard!

Najimi Osana: Airheaded blunderer of doujin!

Tsuyuri: Don't mind the dancing bloomer-thing on her shoulder.

Justice: Pretty-boy Kakashi.

Sora Kitano: Clingy loli.

This episode starts off with Najimi getting fired from her job (which was pretty funny!), and while explaining to her friend Tsuyuri, notices her lack of sleep due to 'doing perverted things all night. Priceless! I approve of sexual humor! Anyways, she lands Najimi a job helping her sell her doujin for 20,000 yen. (Approximately $200 Can/U.S.)

Shortly after they arrive, Najimi learns you can make a decent living off selling doujin manga.

(I don't believe this is probable. I just couldn't imagine it. I mean, even mangaka have fair-decent living through their work, if you exclude royalties, and that's mangaka who's working for a big serialization company. Correct me if I'm wrong, or insufficient of information otherwise.)

Anyway, Najimi meets some people, and concludes the episode by declaring to everyone in the convention that "She'll make a fortune through doujin!"

Hey! Only Rumiko Takashi has that spot taken!!

How OLD is Tsuyuri!? Really!? Is someone her age allowed to draw rape manga!?

Business is booming! No, really!

"Daddy~!!"
That's what I thought, anyway.

More dancing bloomers!!

Good plotline, decent characters. I wonder what'll happen next...?

Umisho - 01

Here we have Umisho, one of those typical fanservice anime. Nothing wrong with that, ne?

Umisho is about a school called Umineko Shougyou, a.k.a. Umisho, it's swim team, and the unusual transfer student who pretty much becomes an ace member for her...original way of swimming.

Let's take a look at the cast:

Kyon--er, Kaname Okiura, Umisho High's swimming team manager, who's been traumatized from swimming at a young age. My plot-line senses are tingling!

Amuro Ninagawa, your over-the-top energetic person. Her swimming style is unique, but her personality is obscure. Definitely obscure.

Momoko Orizuka, the swim team's vice-captain. Her personality reminds me that of Nobue Itoh from Ichigo Marshmallow.

To put it briefly, the episode starts off an ordinary day for the swim team, until Maki comes running in, telling everyone there's a big commotion at the beach. They all go to check out what's going on, and find a house speeding towards land.

Once there, a green-haired girl pops out and introduces herself as Amuro Ninagawa, and she's travelled from Hokkaido to...wherever Umisho is...by boat...or house...whatever...

Anyways, Kaname has a familiar feeling he's met Amuro before, as does she, so you obviously know what to expect. Especially from the picture below.

She invites herself to their swim team, VERY confident in her swimming abilities, but Momoko wants to test that, leading to them racing, and even stalking the poor ignorant girl.

"IT CAME FROM THE SEA!!!"
If you saw something like this pull you under, you'd be traumatized, too!

Oh, I forgot to introduce this character. Don't worry, though, cause she seems pretty annoying, so I probably won't even mention her much.

Oh, by the way, her name's Maki Ikuta.

The big commotion? The house on the water.

Greeting, humans!

Have you seen my bra?

What's a BRA!!?

This guy reminds me of Kyon, but with an actual personality. Not that there's nothing wrong with Kyon himself.

HANABI!!!

Good hiding spot! I approve!

Both subbers for this series, Ayu and Yoroshiku, are doing awesome jobs right now. Either one works fine by me, but since I'd say Yoroshiku's font is easier on the eyes!

See them next time!

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai - 01

Welcome back, Higurashi!
Too bad though, cause by first episode comparisons, this is pretty much a downer.

I guess we start things off with the basic summary here.

Well, to summarize everything in this episode, it was so boring I've almost dozed off more times than not. When I was awake, I'd catch key phrases like 'Document 34', 'Girl A', 'Bioterrorist Attack', and 'Aliens'. Yes, this sounds like if a fan took Invader Zim seriously.

Not much else happens, other than an investigation from some returning characters 24 years after the destruction of Hinamizawa village. From the aftermath, stands the surviving member of the Higurashi children:

Yes, of all people, Rena Ryuugu!!

She was my personal favourite of all the girls in Higurashi, second being Shion/Mion/Whichever was more sane, but whatever!

She returns to the village to answer some questions about what happened on the night of Showa 58. (1983 for all you non-Japanese peeps!) Unfortunately, she doesn't answer much at all.

She acts like those post-rape victims.
WHERE'S THE CHEERY RENA-TAN WE ALL KNOW AND LOVE!!?

She's gone from cute to...well, cute.

Well, more like moé to hot.

I think she's around 38 yrs old now. She definitely looks younger.

Ooh! Bitter Rena mode?

Aww...just Pre-Emo Rena mode...what a downer...

In the end, nothing really happens this episode.

This series better pick up! I have hope for it!

School Days - 01

Alright! First animé review from yours truly!

I'd like to start the first of my many-to-come animé rants, from the most recent animé seasons, School Days of the Animé Summer Season 2007

Well, if you REALLY wanna get technical, then it's "School Days: In the school, three guys met.Their relation had been changed in the season, and turned into three love stories".

School Days is your average animé about Matoko Ito, a guy who falls in love at first sight with a girl, Kotonoha Katsura, but his own carelessness causes of his own classmate, Saionji Sekai, to find out. Well, very blatant description here. But oh well...

Makoto Ito: The protagonist. Your average "Why can't I score like HIM!!?" main character.

Saionji Sekai: The annoying, yet sassy intruder. Makes friends too easily...

Kotonoha Katsura: The kind, quiet, yet-weak-and-sickly girl: the eye of adoration.

So, in their first meeting, Makoto hears someone calling out for the train to wait for her. Kotonoha makes her appearance, and since that moment, he's been fond of her, innocently leading to him taking a photo of her for his cell phone. (Blog Note: Not legal.)

That same day, on their first day of school, Saionji notices the Kotonoha on his cell wallpaper. (Seriously though: His WALLPAPER!!? Who WOULDN'T catch that?...Baka.) Humbly, she jumps him on it, and then becomes "The Matchmaking Wonder, able to befriend people in a single sentence, despite her annoyance!"

Saionji, for the most part of the episode, ends up getting them together, so now right off the bat we have ourselves a happy little couple! You know something's wrong with this picture if you've noticed that this is only the first episode! Kinda like if someone at your school goes out with someone REALLY early in the school year.

But wait!! That's not all!

Makoto thanks Saionji for her selfless deed, although he did question her as to why she'd go out of her way to help him so much. He says he's indebt to her, and although she really didn't need him to owe her, she gets what she's wanted in the end. (Or at least, a little of what she's wanted!)

The rest should be interesting...

That's a good first impression.

I repeat: ILLEGAL.

I need more friends like these!!

"Mmm...crap..."

Oh ho~! Another character makes her appearance! Kinda loli, though!

When I owe girls, it never seems to work out like this..."OTL

To date, the only two fansubbers to sub this anime (first episode) are AniYoshi and Conclave. To compare both, I'd say that Conclave has the better quality, but AniYoshi's translations are slightly better. I'd probably rather go with Conclave, though.

Well, I can't wait for the next episode!

Male protagonists pathetic lately?

Do all Romantic-Comedies lead to the same fate?

I dunno if it's just me, but does anyone notice that whenever harem manga/animé guys start the story off, he always gets pulled into some 'other' place/situation he isn't able to come back from (physically nor mentally)!

Examples:
-Keitaro of Love Hina
-Yukinari of Girls Bravo
-Seiji of Midori no Hibi
-Rando of Pretty Face
-Naota of FLCL
-Suguru of Mahoromatic
-Yuji of Shakugan no Shana
-Kyon of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
-Ikuto of Nagasarete Airantou
-Nagasumi of Seto No Hanayome
-Saito of Zero no Tsukaima

The list goes on!!!

But really: What is it with this oh-so-simple set-up that seems to stay popular? Is it the fact that people dream of something unexpected and random suddenly appearing into thier lives? Do people want to jump from routine and into unknown thrills ahead?

Maybe.

But it works, and that's that.

(Can anyone name anymore?)

The Melancholy Begins!

This is my first attempt at blogging, and I hope to continue while refining my failed writing skills!
First to say, this is mostly going to be an animé blog, where I'll squeeze some otherly topics here and there! Because: 1- I like animé, 2-Everyone has a different opinion on it, 3-I'm sad like that!
Other topics will include things like books, movies, events...you know, the things that don't matter. (lol j/k) This blog was inspired from certain blogging sites I read almost on a daily basis. (Which I'll refrain from naming, just incase bad things start happening!)

The theme here is obvious for those who share the same hobby as mine: taken straight out of the animé, "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya". I'll talk more about this show when the time comes! Other than this, I've obviously never blogged, so I've selected blogger.com because it looks comfortable enough for n00bs like me! I've always wanted to blog, but never got the chance to before due to my constantly changing schedule. (Well, I'm still busy, but...)
I also know NOTHING about Word Press, the basic foundation for any blogger, but I'll adapt as time goes on! Don't mind the template either! I'll have it fixed and personalized to my specific liking sooner or later!

Oh, my future goals in the blogging community:
-To be able to easily blog 1000 words
-To make at least 50 new friends through this
-To develop my writing skills

Well, this concludes my boring first post! Future posts will definitely catch you eyes, guys, so wait just a little bit longer, my fans-to-be!
